With memories of a gutsy performance at Wimbledon behind her, Heather was back after an enforced time out through injury to challenge for the Aegon GB Series title in Wrexham.
Seeded fourth and pitched against many of the best of British youngsters, this was a great chance for her to gain ranking points and to show that she can win titles.
The North Wales summer affected much of the early part of the tournament, and after knocking out Nicola George in round one, play went indoors for the second round. Different surroundings but the same outcome as Heather dismissed Anna Fitzpatrick with ease.
Naomi Broady and Lisa Whybourn followed in quick succession. Four games played and no sets lost as Heather went into the final against India's Sania Mirza.
Once again it was looking like a simple win. One set up and five three up, in the second, Heather had her serve broken by the experienced Mirza.
But that was just a minor blip and Heather came back to break serve in the next game and take the title without losing a set.
She's now on her way to an even bigger tournament in Copenhagen for the Danish Open.
