Jersey Rugby Club helped themselves to just the tonic they needed at home to Yorkshire side Wharfedale - they won 45-5, scoring six tries in the process.

It was a morale-lifting win after a week of disappointment which saw them lose to bottom side Cinderford; docked five points for playing too many foreign players and losing one of their stars for the season - James Ellershaw was badly injured in a road accident.

The match attracted another 1,500-plus crowd, including several hundred Wharfedale supporters.

Jersey scored three first half tries through Michael Le Bourgeois, Glenn Bryce and Donny Sanders.

They went over for another three in the second half, with another from Bryce plus one each for Guy Thompson and Kingsley Lang.
