Be careful what you wish for! Jersey Electricity is majority owned by the states. Jersey Gas are a private company, who don't have the states to support them. Look around the world at global energy prices, crude oil has been over 100 dollars for over a year, and it doesn't look like its coming down soon. Sure as 'eggs are eggs' once the JEC have a captive market and Jersey Gas are no more, watch the price of electric then!! Heat pumps sound good, however do your research and look at the problems worldwide with them. Even the Energy Savings Trust have problems recommending them. We need multi fuels on this island, just remember the French have the switch to turn off our lights. It would be madness to rely on one fuel. Also, remember what one of the oil companies said about Guernsey, "the island uses as much fuel as a M1 service station", they could pull the plug tomorrow and it wouldn't bother them!!
