Jess Dunsdon spent the day with one postman.

People in Jersey are being asked what they think of the island's postal service.

Jersey Post are sending out more than 40,000 surveys this week to find out how it can improve.

It follows a difficult year for the company which saw a 20 million pound drop in revenue.

It's meant they've had to cut 40% of the workforce to save money.

The company want to find out what progress has been made in the last year and see where they might be falling short of expectations.

The last time Jersey Post carried out a feedback survey, one of the main complaints to come from people was the fact they were frustrated that they couldn't get their packages delivered to them at home while they were out at work.

So to overcome that problem, you can now nominate a safe place for your postie to leave your parcel such as the shed or the garage.

Kevin Keen from Jersey Post says, “Our pay bill is about 3 million pounds a year less than it was in 2007, so it's about 17% down. That's partly because we have fewer people and partly because people are unfortunately earning less so that's when it really hurts when it impacts on people's wages - so it seriously has been a painful process for us.”

Why does my postman think that it is acceptable to fold my mail in two prior to putting it though my letterbox? Actually half the time he leaves it half in and half out of the letterbox. This is asking for theft and advertising to anyone passing that the house is empty.

Post service is utter rubbish the guys who work at the parcel collection place all need sacking as all of them are useless.

Think the management have wasted thousands of pounds over the last few years... Land Rovers just driving up and down to the airport, introducing the rudiculous 2-fold deliveries in Jersey, the mobile phone me-mo etc.... Too many chiefs on crazy salaries.. Typical jersey

SH you completely miss the point. No one is blaming individual posties, they are very good in Jersey. The point is that over the last few years the service from Jersey Post has deteriorated dramatically!

Sorry; failing miserably; guaranteed overnight sent 28 feb still not arrived!!! and they don't know where it is?? it is not a postal service; it's turned into a 3D arrangement ( delay - deliver - dump) and then there's lost (strange that - inanimate objects not capable of independent movement - vanish !!!)

Personally particularly annoyed that despite an envelope being stamped with the correct amount of postage, I had to pay a £1.45 surchage becuase sellotape had over lapped the stamps, and apparently becuase of this could not be franked!

I live in St John our postmen are helpful and friendly. The know where to leave packages when we are out. I think we get a good service

I have a great idea, lets build a time machine and go back to the mid 70's when we didnt have pc's,email etc, and when things were so much better without all this modern technology and people were happy and talked to each other in a pleasant manner.

To al/post/Bob Le B Someone has to be first to get their post & someone has to be last. Work out where you are...Rounds change. The posties do a brilliant job & deserve a special mention for last Thursday & Friday when they were out late to catch up on the backlog.

Rubbish. Postie arrives near the end of the day. Special deliveries aren't, guaranteed overnight arrived 6 days later. JOKE!

i no longer care anymore, postie come and postie goes . i dislike the point of vat payment( on posting) as there is no redeaming point for vat ,ive paid when the seller has not removed it .(i blame the goverment for this not the post office) some days i work late , some days i stop early.

Very disappointed in Jersey Post over the last few years. The postman used to turn up between 11-11:30 am, now he turns up anywhere between 2-4:30pm. Special Deliveries supposedly guaranteed before 1pm are now nothing of the sort. So if i am expecting something urgent i have to stay in all afternoon waiting!
