New bank notes issued - What do you think?

Jersey News, Jersey Local News, Jersey Latest News, News In Jersey - new money

New bank notes designed to reflect Jersey's history and culture are being issued today.

The island's first new designs for more than 20 years were officially launched in February.

They have been tested in banks' cash machines and commercial vending machines and are now ready to be introduced into circulation.

The new notes include the use of French and Jerriais as well as each of the twelve parish crests and there's a new image of the Queen.

The existing Jersey bank notes are still legal tender and will remain in circulation until each note reaches the end of its useful life and is withdrawn in the usual way.

We want to know what you think of the new notes. Leave us a comment below. We'll read out a selection, in Channel Report.

New Banknotes Report Abuse

New notes, pants idea, they look like Euro's, horrible colours and seeing that they have had so much time to think of a new range of notes did no one think of maybe designing them so that the amount shown on the note was slightly raised so those that might not have 100% eyesight could touch the note to know what they are handing over. Once again the States not thinking or even asking.

So, no one knows why we've added the Crown in place of the Duke of Normandy Dress? It must be a mistake... Next week's headline --> NEW NOTES RECALLED

they look like they were thought up by a 5 year old at playschool, too small in comparison to the old notes, what a laugh visitors will have

Duke or Queen? Report Abuse

I'm with 'St Lawrence'. As far as I'm aware the Queen appears on our notes as the Duke of Normandy in the appropriate robes etc - therefore without the crown of England/Scotland etc. Mistake or sign of the times? Nevertheless nice notes.

Nice of the Treasury to issue these on my birthday - I was one of the first to collect some from a Bank and think all look great.

Launching on a Bank Holiday weekend! Will there be enough notes to put in the cash machines? I reckon the cash machines will be empty by Sunday. We could all be using cheques by Monday!

Bright colours, bold numerals, an updated image of The Queen and historic buildings from the island. Very nice notes! But it would be nice having enough of them in my purse!!;-)

Crown? Report Abuse

Can someone PLEASE answer me? Why is there a crown back on the Queen's head on our bank notes? Has there been a change that has brought this about or is it simply a mistake?
