Senator Stuart Syvret says he will not return from self imposed exile in the UK until Jersey's justice system has become fairer for all.
He's been charged with driving offences and breaches of the data protection law. But he claims the cases are 'politically motivated' and that he can't submit his defence.
It's a story that's prompted an unprecedented number of comments from you here at channelonline.tv. So we've been to London to put your views to him.
In an exclusive interview he explains how he's now taking his battle to the High Court - suing the Justice Ministry for failing to ensure a fair legal system.
Lib Dem MP, John Hemming is supporting Senator Syvret's bid to be protected from the Jersey authorities.
He's also helping him to sue the UK Justice Secretary for failing to ensure there's a fair legal system in the island. He's also letting the Senator stay in his London flat. He told us why.

I hope the Hemmings and the UK government keep out of this. Look what a mess the UK is in. At least the majority of our amateur government hold us together with some professionalism.

WHY are you allowing bogus comments on here, and do you not check the credibility of the e-mail addresses?? You risk getting yourselves into some sort of trouble if you allow this to continue.
Neil McFlurry!, Rico Sorda, Zoompad, Tony Gallichan and Ian Evans are all supporters of Stuart along with myself (although I have had no bogus comments attributed to me - yet).
Then it could be that this is part of an orchestrated media campaign against Stuart where 'anything goes'.
I hope you print this to alert people to the nonsense that this thread has now become.

CTV is doing a good job here and I know Ian Evans (welsh) so there must be either 2 of them or this small number of supporters are throwing toys at him because they cannot stand other peoples freedom of speech. Ian was never a supporter of Stuart Syvret so stop putting words in other peoples mouths. N.B. I agree with Joanne, let them fund him and stop paying him a wage from tax.

In relation to Debbies comments about suing CTV....Does Syvret ever check posters identity? NO of course not as they mainly post anonoumsly..... I have tried thre times to post on the Syvret site but as my comments either question Syvret or one of his 'six' supporters and the comments never get published, at least CTV are publishing all comments not just the ones that suit them, like SSS does!

Instead of allowing the tax payer to fund his attempts to destroy our Island why can't his supporters (seeing as we are told there are so many of them), set up a fund and collect money for him? His behaviour is awful and in hindsight I would never of voted for him, but I do not see why the people who do not approve of his antics shoud pay anymore tax towards it. He is abscent from the States so he can no longer do his job. His defense does not add up because if all states members did what he did then Ben Shenton is right the government would be in chaos.

We know the Syvret supporters make up such a small number of people because of the number of ip addresses regularly viewing his blog and also the attendance of his rallies that people are repeat posting praise on here. It will make no difference. Syvret is a law breaker, he is due up and court on Monday and if he does not turn up he will face the consequence. This argument about a judial review is utter rubbish.

Firstly, when Jess interviewed Jimmy Perchard over his comments made to Syvret, she was just as tough with him, as she was this time, so I dont hink she is biased, I think she is trying to come over as some one who will not be intimidated by politicians, though she has a long way to go yet before she reaches Paxman standards.
Secondly, there appears to be a number of bogus posts that have been acredited to various people where it is clearly not them. And I suspect multiple posts by the same person under a different name too.
Please, lets not revert to the dirty, childish and pathetic tactics used on Syvret's blog by his supporters. He has lost all credibility, this site will also lose credibility if this continues.

There appear to be some "bogus" commenters on this thread which I'm sure has been spotted by not just me as I am no expert! As someone who would like to know the answers to many questions posed by Stuart Syvret I thought he and Mr Hemmings spoke well but it was a shame that the interviewer was out of her depth.

Most of the people who post on here are to dim to see the bigger picture.... i.e the public interest in exposing the judiciary for failing to even investigate a possible serial killer, let alone prosecuting. And the abuses of power by the police who admit in court they will break the law to get a conviction.
£250,00 TO PAY OF A FAILED hEALTH CHIEF EXECUTIVE (ALLEGEDLY) WHOME SYVRET WARNED WAS USELESS, BUT PEOPLE PANICKING ABOUR PAYING SYVRET WHILST HE'S IN LONDON. THESE PEOPLE ARE SO PAROCHIAL AND DON'T LOOK BEYOND THEIR OWN NOSES.

How interesting. Can I just say that the comment against Syvret supposedly attributed to me, was not, in fact, written by me. In fact, theres quite a few comments on this site that aren't by the people that claim to have written them... CTV, I think your either being used or your doing this yourselves.. which is it? As it is, it's completley invalidated this whole comments thread and cast doubt on anything on your site...

didn't really learn much from the interviews that i hadn't read already.. would've been nice to hear more from stuart syvret as to his reasoning behind fighting his case..
one thought though: he states that he is working on behalf of his constituents.. the way i see it is that he is attempting to get the uk government (that we did not elect) to step in to jersey affairs and 'correct' the problems that he believes exist.. if such an act were to succeed, it would have a dramatic affect on our constitutional relationship with the uk and would potentially erode our independence.. that's quite a state of affairs to invoke on our behalf when none of us asked for or agreed to such action being undertaken..
personally, i don't like the way that the uk can be used in such a parental role as i like the independence that we enjoy.. we may have our problems over here, some of them may even be well entrenched, but that doesn't mean that we can't sort them out over here by ourselves.. it may take a while, but that's evolution for ya..

Very sly. Do you notice how at the beginning she calls him 'Senator Syvret' and at the end, 'Stuart Syvret' and it is obviously deliberate. She says it slowly, of course listening to the voice in her ear. And the purpose of it is to discredit the Senator, to undermine him by no longer using his title - as if she has stripped him of his office, by the mere use of language
