St Peter's has won this year's Floral Guernsey Community competition.

A range of prizes were also awarded for categories such as best floral display and best contribution towards a community.

The Guernsey in Bloom festival fortnight was the backdrop for the competition, judged by local and UK experts.

Senior UK judge Mike Fitt said he was impressed by the standard, especially given the wet weather during judging.

Despite this years rather unseasonal weather it was clear to the judges that those entering the competition were undaunted.

He said: "Standards were high, the enthusiasm of those taking part infectious and a ready supply of umbrellas on hand! Well done to everyone who took part, whatever their contribution. Guernsey is truly the floral isle, to complete the picture all it needs now is for those who didnt enter this year to compete in 2013."
