Guernseyman Roger Allsopp has joked that swimming the Channel is not something 'older people should do' - after picking up the record for the oldest person to swim the Channel in the world.

The 70-year-old retired surgeon completed the challenge in 17 hours 51 minutes.
He said after his feat: "I don't feel very good! I feel a bit shaken up, but I'll be alright for tomorrow, you know.
"It was very hard - not something I'd recommend for older people!"

Asked what was the worst part of the challenge, Roger said: "Most of it was worst really! And it went on like that for 18 hours really!"
He had been waiting for the right conditions in Dover for more than a week.
The pensioner set off from Shakespeare's Cliff at 8 o'clock on Tuesday morning.
He is on his way to raising three quarters of a million pounds for cancer research charity Hope for Guernsey.
