In January 1987, Terry Waite arrived in Beirut, a church envoy, tasked with negotiating the release of several hostages.
But he ended up a hostage himself and was held captive for almost 2,000 days.
He's in Alderney this week enjoying a holiday and giving a lecture on his experiences.
