Developers are being sought to build a 300-berth marina in Alderney.
The States of Alderney is hoping to convince a company to design, build, finance and operate a facility in Braye Harbour.
Provided a developer's plans are approved, building work could begin next spring.
States Chief Executive Roy Burke said: "The Outer Harbour at Alderney provides a unique opportunity for a new marina in one of Europes finest and least developed yachting positions."
The provision of a marina is a key part of the island's plans to attract inward investment and it's hoped it'll significantly boost the island's economic objectives.
It's a project which has already attracted a good deal of interest both locally and with developers. It's likely the selected developer will be offered a long term lease on the marina and, subject to planning, construction is expected to start in spring 2011.
Mr Burke said the States' vision is to create a first class venue which complements the surrounding area.
Alderney's politicians have long discussed the possibility of building a marina. Various feasibility studies have been carried out in the past but all have led to nothing. States member Ian Tugby recently urged the island to stop talking about a marina and get on with building one.
Expressions of interest should be sent to: Roy Burke, Chief Executive, States of Alderney, PO Box 1, Channel Islands, GY9 3AA. The deadline is 31 August. Call 822816 or email for further information.
