Andy Richards reports on what may be an alternative to incineration, recycling
A row's brewing in Guernsey over whether there should be another States incinerator debate.
Just when you thought protesters had done enough to stop Guernsey building an incinerator, the States decide to bring the issue back to the assembly one more time.
Deputy Tony Spruce will table a requete at this month's States meeting on the 24th calling for the island to re-install Suez's proposed £93 million incinerator.

If this requette wins will another deputy bring an opposing requette? Maybe we should go best of five votes. It seems that`s the way our States is run these days. The decision was made BEHIND CLOSED DOORS (what was there to hide from the public) for the members involved directly to abstain from the vote on the Suez contract. I think I`m right in saying that that decision was taken by a vote of all the States Members or with their acceptance of advice from the legal advisors to The States. If that`s the case then what is Deputy Spruce complaining about? It stinks of underhand dealings.
