John Jacques was at the Channel Islands Dog of the Year show
An entry from Guernsey has won the Channel Island Dog of the Year.
An Australian Shepherd owned by Carol and David Turner from Forest took the honours at what is the local version of Crufts.
During the year the Guernsey Kennel Club and Kennel Club of Jersey stage a series of competitions and its the winners from those shows who come together for the grand finale.
There are seven groups - gundogs, terriers, hounds, toys, utility, working and pastoral - and each entrant was 'gone over' by Jane Lilley who was judging them against their breed standards.
After the group winners had been settled - it was time for the finals. First up - the veterans, dogs that are seven years or older. Lisa Goodall's wire-haired dachshund took the honours.
Next to go through their paces - the qualifiers for Brace of the Year. The Norwegian Elkhounds -owned by Rob and Kath Gilluley - took the silverware.
Stars of the future were on parade in the Puppy of the Year. And the one which caught the judge's eye was the standard long-haired dachshund.
Lastly, all eyes were on the line up for the Guernsey Trophy - the Channel Islands Dog of the Year. Jane Lilley first reduced the competition to a short-list of six and then the decision.
It was a great moment for Carol and David Turner from Guernsey. They've been showing for 30 years and their Australian Shepherd Durbie has done it - next stop Crufts.
