An Alderney politician is warning Guernsey that the islands may lose tourists if a new marine diesel tax is introduced.
Bill Walden says boat owners won't want to come to the Bailiwick if it costs too much to fill up their vessels.
Treasury and Resources Minister Deputy Charles Parkinson wants to put a new tax on marine diesel next year.
Mr Walden says that if there is to be a tax, it should be pan Channel Islands.

If tax is going to levied for non road going use, then houses, planes, plant etc should not be exempt.The Channel Islands have a great chance to attract boaters across the channel and to grow the marine industry a short sighted tax will scupper that instantly. Steve Arthurs.
