Dedication of the Field of Remembrance

The Field of Remembrance at the Smith Street war memorial in Guernsey will be blessed today as the annual Poppy Appeal gets underway.

A short service, starting at 11am, will be led by the Dean. Attending will be a contingent of Chelsea Pensioners and Gurkhas; the Bailiff, Richard Collas; the President of the local branch of the Royal British Legion and other representatives of service organisations.

The Field of Remembrance will be laid out a short time before the dedication and islanders are asked not to place their remembrance crosses in the Field until after the Dedication at 12 noon.
