Rob Moore

Born in Miami, USA, Rob and his family soon moved to New Jersey where they spent the next ten years. After a spell of moving around from country to country they eventually settled in Guernsey where Rob attended Elizabeth College.

He went on to complete a degree in English at Nottingham before heading back to the island. Rob worked in local radio for the next five years, eventually becoming Island FM's News Editor, and he's now brought that experience to the Channel Television team.

Working in the Guernsey media has seen Rob cover everything from major court cases to albino hedgehogs but his biggest interest is local politics - There's nothing like sinking your teeth into a brand new Billet D'Etat!

What did you want to be when you were younger?
I was never really sure. I think after seeing Jurassic Park I actually remember wanting to be a paleontologist for quite a while but my science and maths were never that good. I'm certainly more suited to journalism!

What 3 words best describe you?
'News comes first'

Night or day?
Night, my brain doesn't wake up until several hours after my body.

Worst job you've ever had?
I helped gather signatures for a banking union as a Saturday job at university. It involved getting up early and standing outside branches of the bank all day through the East Midlands winter. I remember one occasion where we'd been shouting 'Sign the petition. Save UK jobs!' and a woman came rushing over asking 'What's this? Save huge hedgehogs?'

Dream job?
Being a journalist and covering news is all I could really see myself doing now. I definitely couldn't give it up.

Most embarrassing moment on TV?
A few years before even starting my career on TV, I recorded a Valentine's message to a girl I worked with, which went down like a ton of bricks - at the time! A couple of years later and I'm glad to say we did get together - perseverance pays off!

Name 3 things you love about the Channel Islands.
I love their independence, the small and close communities and the brilliant venues for big parties like Vale Castle or Petit Bot.

Where's your favourite beach?
Port Soif but it's not easy to pick just one.

If you could listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain.

What's the best advice you've been given?
'We should all play more' (scribbled outside Creasey's by St Peter Port's mystery chalker)
