Tax increases, voluntary redundancies and plans for a recruitment freeze are part of a package of measures to plug Jersey's economic deficit.
The plans form part of the comprehensive spending review. Health, Education, Social Security and Home Affairs will all face detailed cost-cutting exercises.
Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf says the measures should save £57m by 2013. He told us: 'They're necessary changes in order to secure a successful prosperous island in the future'.
All states departments will be forced to make cuts, with special attention being paid to the biggest spenders.

This is getting more and more confussing. Frist is was a 50 million short fall then and few weeks ago it was up to 63 million.
Now it is falling to 57 million. If our Minster is so unsure of the figures then how can he be in chrage of the Treasurey.
As it is a well know fact accountants can make figures say what ever they want, this does not make them true. How come with the new tax system and the GST we still have less money in the coffers?
