Personal debt problems are growing

Guernsey's Citizens Advice Bureau has seen a surge in the number of people coming to them with money worries. Enquiries are up by a quarter and the charity has launched a recruitment drive to cope with demand.

The Bureau is hoping to boost its numbers while also raising awareness of the services it can offer to islanders in difficulty. The charity currently has 25 local volunteer advisers, who are trained to help people with a broad range of issues including employment, housing, relationships, wills and leases, as well as many other issues.
